Canada’s Hay Family has bronc riding running through their blood. They are three generations of National Finals Rodeo saddle bronc riders that dominate professional rodeo.
It all started with Fred Hay who taught his ways to his sons, Denny and Rod Hay, who both went on to win the Calgary Stampede and make the NFR.
Denny says that start from their dad was huge and Rod says they naturally evolved into a sport that they always had love and passion for.
“We all kind of had the same mentality. We didn’t just want to get there, we wanted to get there and make a splash,” Rod said.
The Hay brothers that you see on the road today are Logan and Dawson Hay. They followed in their father’s footsteps and Logan already has one Calgary Stampede Championship under his belt.
“It’s pretty cool to continue the legacy on that Rodney and Denny started. It’d be pretty cool if one of us could get a World Championship, Rodney and Denny couldn’t get that one done,” Logan laughed.
With Logan and Dawson on the professional rodeo road and their youngest brother Devon coming up the ranks, the Hay family legacy is going strong.
