Taylor Santos Wins The Tie-Down Title in Lovington, New Mexico

Taylor Santos finished out Round 1 of Lea County with an 8.1-second run to take the lead and would go on to place once again with a second run of 8.7-seconds to then move into the top spot in the Average.

Santos has had a busy season as he is not only competing in the tie-down roping but in the steer roping as well, an event he finished second in at the Lea County Rodeo.

“It’s fun right now doing both events, I’m gonna trip steers here tomorrow and go to another 23, 24 rodeos in August so I’m just having a blast doing both events and trying to get to as many as we can,” Santos said.

Santos’ aggregate score of 16.8 seconds on two placed him eight tenths ahead of second-place finisher and reigning World Champion Caleb Smidt. Santos won over $7,500 at the rodeo and is currently just inside the NFR cutline at No. 14 in the World Standings.
