Taylor Hanchey is the first woman to ever qualify for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in two events.

Hanchey is going into the 2021 NFR in the No. 15 hole in the breakaway. Hanchey, previously Taylor Jacob, has been to the NFR twice before this, in 2013 and 2015, in the barrel racing.

Hanchey thought her chances after Salinas were slim to none and she came to one of the last chance rodeos here in the Fort Worth Stockyards simply to cinch a spot at her circuit finals. However, unofficially, she also cinched her spot to Vegas.

“I’m excited to be competitive again.. everybody that made it, they’re on an elite level and I’m excited to get there and get to rope against them,” Hanchey said about roping in Las Vegas.

Although the breakaway roping will not be taking place at the Thomas and Mack just yet, this is a stepping stone to getting there. It is breakaway ropings second appearance at the NFR and somebody had to become the first woman to qualify in two events and Taylor Hanchey did just that.
