Talking NFR with Bob Tallman

As Justin McKee says, “When [Bob] speaks, everybody listens.”

The Hall of Famer known as the Voice of Professional Rodeo, Bob Tallman looks back at his 26 years of the National Finals Rodeo, from Oklahoma City to Las Vegas.

Through the years, he’s become a legend of rodeo, not just as an announcer but as a role model, philanthropist, and advocate for the sport.

“I’m big on two things,” he says. “I’m big on Jesus and I’m big on giving.I have this quest in life that whenever I leave, however I leave ... I want to be able to be able to say that I gave back at least half of what I earned, reinvested, when I go. I know that God likes a giver, so if you’re going to make it, you need to give some. ... and once you get in the gift of giving, you would rather give than receive.”

Come December 2020, Tallman will again take the mic at the NFR, this time in Texas.

“If the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, which is between Fort Worth and Dallas, only happens one time, all the crowned world champions will have a world buckle that will be different than any other place. They’ll wear it different; they’ll think different,” says Tallman. "... Texas is a state of mind. For all of the people who will be coming, to see what we do and to become a part of this, many of them will have never been to Texas to a rodeo, and it will be my job — along with my buddy Roger Mooney and my dear friend Andy Seiler — to make them feel special that they came here.”
