Stu Wright had a matchup that he has been waiting for when he pulled into St. Paul, Oregon during Cowboy Christmas. He threw his saddle on none other than Black Tie of Sankey Pro Rodeo and Phenom Genetics. The two went toe-to-toe to come out with a 91.5-point ride and a new arena record.
“The first time I’d ever seen that horse I was actually on Pendleton Roundup’s Marque, sweating bullets and that horse bucked right before I went out. And I watched that horse buck and I said I am going to ride that horse someday,” Wright recalled.
Someday rolled around at just the right time and although Black Tie is flashy, Wright said he was snappy and fast, something he was fired up about both during the ride and when his feet hit the ground again.
This win added over $12,500 to Wright’s season earnings and moved him inside the Top 25 in the PRCA World Standings with plenty of money to still be won.
