World Champions Kaycee Feild and Caleb Smidt Talk Life Outside of Rodeo

Caleb Smidt and Kaycee Feild may not have much in common inside of the arena, but outside of it, they share plenty in common. The two sat down and shared the balance of working on the road and taking care of their families.

“Three kids on the road in a pickup and a camper, there is not a lot of room. You’ve got to be pretty organized, but at the same time just be okay with the french fries and some hamburger meat in the seats. You have to look past the small stuff that doesn’t matter,” Feild says of life on the road.

Smidt’s last two championship seasons came right after having a child.

“It makes you try hard, you’ve got another human you have to supply for,” Smidt said smiling.

The two were talking in Vegas and Smidt touched on how their lives have changed in the Entertainment Capital of the World.

“There is no nightlife, you just go back to the room, eat at the room. Your nightlife goes down, which is fine.”

Feild added while laughing, “Sometimes you don’t even make the Bull Riding.”

Currently, Feild is seventh in the PRCA World Standings with just over $88,000 earned on the season, and Smidt is in fourth in Tie-Down Roping with $124,000 earned on the year.
