Resistol Rookie Update: Riley Webb Starting To Open Up Lead in Tie-Down Roping

BY BRETT NIERENGARTEN @PRORODEOBRETT

The tie-down roping is the one of the closest Resistol Rookie of the Year races in ProRodeo right now.

Although Riley Webb leads by more than $12,000, four other cowboys have proven capable in the professional ranks by making over $10,000 already.

Here’s a look at how each cowboy in the Top 5 has made their money in the 2022 season.

1. Riley Webb, $26,487

Webb is currently No. 24 in the world and if he wants to make the NFR, he is going to need more weekends like the one he had to start June. He placed in three rodeos in three different states, had a 7.4 second run to win a round at Old Fort Days (Arkansas) and amassed just over $2,000. For the season, he is averaging 9.05 seconds per qualified time.

2. Trevor Hale, $14,413

Hale has not rodeoed since the weekend of May 21, when he placed in the Santa Rosa Roundup (Texas) and Rowell Ranch Rodeo (California). That same weekend, he also had the fastest time of his career, a 7.2 to win a round in Redding (California).

3. Tom Crouse, $13,481

Despite rodeoing hard to begin June, Crouse has yet to win a check in 10 attempts. He did, however, close May on a high note by winning $2,413 for a second place finish at the Will Rogers Stampede (Oklahoma) on May 29. It was the second biggest payday of his professional career.

4. Kase Bacque, $12,909

Bacque has not competed since the Resistol Rookie Roundup on April 30 and before that he won $10,757 in San Angelo, the only other rodeo he entered in April. Bacque has made all of his money on just 22 attempts.

5. Cash Hooper, $10,671

Hooper placed in both rounds of the Crossett Riding Club PRCA Rodeo (Arkansas) on June 4 and also won the American Royal Rodeo (Missouri) on May 7.
