No. 1 saddle bronc rider Sage Newman dominated Back When They Bucked in Deadwood over the weekend.
Newman was marked 90.5 in the Long Round and 90 in the Long Round. He banked nearly $5,000 in the process and leads the PRCA World Standings by just over $20,000. Newman has earned $124,266 this season and Stetson Wright is the only other cowboy to make six figures so far this season.
“That horse, he stalled out out there and got some air and let me do my stuff, it was a lot of fun,” Newman said of his winning ride on Korkow’s Joker Poker.
Newman has been marked 90 or more five times since March.
“This is the best I’ve ever ridden, I feel great, I’m healthy and I have great guys behind me,” he said.
