The top bareback rider in the PRCA in 2022 matched up with the 2021 Reserve PRCA Bareback Horse of the Year in Guymon on Saturday and did not disappoint.
Pope was 92 points on the Frontier Rodeo’s Gun Fire to not only win Guymon Pioneer Days, but also set a new arena record in the process.
“That’s one of the greatest athlete bucking horses there is going, you can’t stub your toe on her, there’s nothing else in her league,” he said. “I hope I get to keep getting on her.”
Pope also sealed his 2021 NFR Average win on Gun Fire in Round 10.
