Martha Josey’s Josey Junior World Barrel Race is Coming Up

The Josey Junior World Barrel Race is coming up.

Martha Josey, an 11-time National Finals Qualifier, multi–World Champion, started this barrel race in 1981 when a friend went with Josey to the NFR and the two came up with the idea to have the best barrel race in the world in Marshall, Texas for girls that were 20 years-old or younger.

The 2021 Average Champion, Tristan Bowls and Short Okie Lena, were added to a long list of legendary names that have gone to the Josey Junior World Barrel Race. That list included people like Charmayne James, Jan Hansen, that would go on to compete with Josey herself and some would win World Championships and Gold Buckles.

During the last week of April and the first week of May, there will be two races. The Josey Reunion Race is for former students that attended Josey’s clinics. This race has multiple generations running against each other, Josey’s schools and clinics started in 1967 and anybody that has attended a school can attend the Reunion Race.

Entries are being taken for the Josey Junior World’s and the Reunion Race now and you can find more information here.
