Logan Hay, Stetson Wright, Zeke Thurston, Chase Brooks and Wyatt Casper all made more than $6,000 in their respective brackets to lead the group of 20 saddle bronc riders who qualified for the Semifinals of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.
There are two Semifinal rounds per event and each round will produce five finalists. Additionally, there will be one wild card competitor who qualifies for the Short Go. The cowboy with the most total money at the end of the rodeo, wins.
Here is a better look at the saddle bronc riding field for the Semifinals and how each cowboy moved on.
Logan Hay, $7,000
Logan Hay finished second in Bracket 1, Round 1 and went on to win the next two rounds. All three of his rides were between 84 and 87 points.
Stetson Wright, $6,250
Stetson Wright placed in the Top 2 in all three rounds in Bracket 2 including a whopping 92 points on Calgary Stampede’s Yesterday’s Delivery in Round 2. All of Wright’s rides were marked 86 or higher. He is currently ranked No. 2 in the PRCA Saddle Bronc Riding World Standings.
Zeke Thurston $6,250
Zeke Thurston split the win in Bracket 2 with Stetson Wright by also placing in the Top 2 in all three rounds. He won Round 1 with 87.5 points on Cervi Championship’s High Rolling Sidney.
Wyatt Casper, $6,000
Wyatt Casper placed in all three rounds in Bracket 2, including a win in Round 2 with 88 points on Championship Rodeo’s Pow Wow Nights.
Chase Brooks, $6,000
Chase Brooks won Rounds 2 and 3 in Bracket 5 with 88 points on Stace Smith Pro Rodeo’s Dreamliner and 86 points on Frontier Rodeo’s Mapleleaf.
Layton Green, $5,250
Green finished second in Bracket 4 behind Logan Hay. He didn’t a win any rounds, but placed in the Top 3 in all three performances with rides between 83.5 and 85.5 points.
Lucas Macza, $5,000
Lucas Macza won Bracket 4 and won Round 2 with 84 points on Bridwell Rodeo’s Indian Burn.
Brody Cress, $5,000
Brody Cress won two rounds in Bracket 2 with two of the three highest scores of the rodeo. He was 89 points on J Bar J’s Shady Lounge in Round 1 and 90 on Championship Rodeo’s Feather Fluffer in Round 3.
Chet Johnson, $4,000
Chet Johnson was second in Bracket 4, Round 1 and third in Round 3 to finish second in the bracket behind Lucas Macza.
Lefty Holman, $3,500
Lefty Holman was third in Bracket 2, Round 2 with 83.5 points and second in Round 3 with 88 points. He finished tied for third in the bracket behind Wyatt Casper and Brody Cress.
Shorty Garrett, $3,500
Shorty Garrett was the cowboy who tied Lefty Holman in Bracket 2. Garrett was 85.5 points in Round 3 and 84.5 in Round 2.
Ryder Wright, $3,500
Ryder Wright won Bracket 5, Round 1 with 87.5 points on Cervi Brothers’ Mood Swing and finished fourth in Round 3. He split second in the bracket with Sterling Crawley and Sage Newman.
Sterling Crawley, $3,500
Sterling Crawley was 87.5 points in Bracket 5, Round 2 for second place and was also third in Round 3.
Sage Newman, $3,500
Sage Newman was 85 points in Round 1 for third place and 84.5 in Round 2 for second.
Kolby Wanchuk, $3,000
Kolby Wancuk won Bracket 4, Round with 85 points on Bridwell’s Blue Backsplash and also split third in Round 2.
Kole Ashbacher, $3,000
Kole Ashbacher split third in Bracket 4 with Kolby Wanchuk thanks to fourth place finish in Round 1 and a second place finish in Round 2.
Cody DeMoss, $2,500
Cody DeMoss placed in one round in Bracket 1, but it was a win in the first round, which was enough to advance.
Dawson Hay, $2,500
Like Cody DeMoss, Dawson Hay also won one round to qualify for the Semifinals. He did so in style with 90 points on Stampede Warrior.
Treyson Atnonick, $1,833
Treyson Antonick placed in two rounds in Bracket with rides of 82.5 and 82 points.
The Semifinals of the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo on Thursday and Friday at 8 PM ET. The rodeo concludes with the Finals on Saturday, Feb. 26 and you can watch it all on only on The Cowboy Channel and The Cowboy Channel+ App.
