Best Moments of 2021: The American Rodeo tie-down roping Shootout

The American Rodeo Shootout had plenty of drama in the tie-down roping in 2021.

After several rounds of competition, the final four standing were legends Shane Hanchey and Tuf Cooper as well as $1 million qualifiers Hunter Reaume and Cody Craig, two cowboys who have never been to the NFR.

Cody Craig got the round started with a 10.2-second run and Hunter Reaume registered a no time that would have been 7.26 seconds but his horse was spooked and allowed the calf to come untied.

From there, Shane Hanchey took advantage. The 2013 World Champion turned in a time of 7.74 seconds to claim the $100,000 prize, $50,000 of which counted toward the PRCA World Standings. Hanchey took over the No. 1 ranking and held it until the NFR.

A $1 million qualifier has never won the tie-down roping at The American Rodeo.
