Best Moments of 2021: Wade Sundell wins Xtreme Broncs Finale Long Go in Rapid City

One of the best bronc riding moments of 2021 came courtesy of 2018 World Champion Wade Sundell.

At the Xtreme Broncs Finale in Rapid City at the end of August, Sundell arrived outside of the Top 20 and about $12,000 outside of the Top 15. After being fouled out of the chute, Sundell cashed in on his re-ride by teaming up with Gangster to win the Long Round with 88.5 points on a rainy and cold South Dakota evening. Overall, eight cowboys were marked higher than 85 points.

The Long Round was on the two-year anniversary of the liver injury that threatened Sundell’s career and his life.

Sundell went on to ride for 90 and finish third in the Short Go to win him over $23,000, which put him in the Top 10 and helped him clinch his ninth NFR berth of his career in 2021 and first since 2018. He ended up finishing No. 13 in the PRCA World Standings.
