Those who have followed tie-down roping for the past few years knew it was only a matter of time before Joe Beaver disciple and 2020 Texas Circuit Finals Champion John Douch punched his ticket to Las Vegas. He did so in 2021 by winning $88,874 to put him No. 15 in the PRCA World Standings.

Douch was fueled by a very profitable July, specifically the last week of July when he placed in three straight rounds at Cheyenne Frontier Days and two more in Deadwood. Between those two rodeos, he also finished second at Nebraska’s Big Rodeo. From July 24-Aug. 1, he won about $16,000.

For the month he won around $30,000 because he also placed at the Oakley Independence Day Rodeo (Utah), St. Paul Rodeo (Oregon) Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo (Utah), Silver State Stampede (Nevada), Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo (Colorado) and Ogden Pioneer Days (Utah).

Douch went from outside of the Top 20 in the last week of June to No. 15 by the beginning of August.
