Bareback rider Cole Reiner follows up impressive rookie season with another NFR qualification

After winning Resistol Rookie of the Year in 2020, bareback rider Cole Reiner is off to his second career Wrangler NFR ranked No. 8 in the PRCA World Standings with $98,216.

The 22-year-old won three rodeos outright in 2021 season and they were all big ones. All the way back in October of 2020, he went 3-for-3 and averaged 87.2 points per ride to win the Mountain State Circuit Finals and $5,257, which counted toward the next year’s standings.

In July, he won the $12,500 Shootout Round at the Pikes Peak or Bust rodeo with 90 points aboard Vegas Confused.

And his third and final solo win came in Washington in August at the Horse Heaven Round-Up in Kennewick. Reiner made two great rides on two great horses there, he was 88.5 points on Choke Cherry in the Long Round and 89 on Agent Lynx in the Short Round. Reiner won both Go-Rounds and the Average which earned him $7,235 late in the season.

Reiner was also the co-champion at four other rodeos. He shared the title with Jake Brown at the Nacogdoches Pro Rodeo (Texas) with 88 points. At the Matagorda County Fair (Texas) he was 88 once again and he split the win with Kody Lamb. In August, he won more than $5,500 in Caldwell by winning the two-head Average alongside new traveling partner and five-time World Champion Kaycee Feild. Finally, at the Tri State Rodeo (Iowa), the 2020 Resistol Rookie of the Year shared the victory with the 2021 Rookie of the Year, Cole Franks.

Reiner averaged 83.63 point per qualified ride and had 20 rides of 85 points or more in 2021. He won a total of 14 Go-Rounds as well.

In his first NFR last year, Reiner won Rounds 6 and 9 and placed sixth in the Average with 764 points on 9 head. He finished the season No. 6 in the World Standings with $154,325.
