Calgary Stampede’s Xplosive Skies named PRCA Bareback Horse of the Year

Xplosive Skies of Calgary Stampede’s has been named the 2021 Pendleton Whiskey Let ‘Er Buck Bareback Horse of the Year. The horse only had seven outs this year and got to enjoy a lot of time at home and the cowboys who were able to make the whistle were rewarded with 90 points or more each time.

There were only two who were up for the task were Clayton Biglow and Wyatt Denny, with Denny riding for 90 at California Rodeo Salinas.

Biglow, on the other hand, found lightning in a bottle back-to-back weekends on Xplosive Skies. The California Cowboy was 92 points on the Calgary horse at the Farm-City Pro Rodeo (Oregon) and the Canby Rodeo (Oregon), both of those scores were good enough to win the rodeo.

Xplosive Skies proved to be the definition of a 90 or nothing horse in 2021 as the three qualified rides on him averaged 91.25 points, but he also put NFR qualifiers like Mason Clements and Taylor Broussard on the dirt.

Xplosive Skies received a total of 40 points in the voting. Frontier’s Gun Fire was second with 34 points and Mazca’s OLS Tubs Stevie Knicks was third with 12.
