Tuf Cooper, who has been spent several weeks at No. 1 in the PRCA World Tie-Down Roping Standings, will miss up to four weeks after injuring his left hand on Aug. 14.

According to ProRodeo.com, Cooper’s index finger took most of the damages and he needed 30 stitches after getting a coil in his left hand at the Cache County Fair and Rodeo in Utah on Aug. 14.

“I’m really thankful that I’m a position (in the world standings) where I don’t have to keep rodeoing,” Cooper said. “It was an accident, and I just thank God it wasn’t any worse. It is awesome the rodeo community we have, and I can’t thank people enough for all the support.”

Cooper said he plans to see a specialist this week to get a better idea of what his rehab will look like and how long he will be out.

Cooper currently has $119,957 to his name and looks to be safely in the Wrangler NFR as he leads No. 15 Andrew Burks by around $57,000 with six weeks left in the season.

Cooper has won five rodeos in the tie-down roping this season.
