Catching up with 2X Vernal Rodeo Champion Jesse Wright

With a beautiful 91.5-point ride on Powder River Rodeo’s Bet The Ranch last night, Jesse Wright won the bronc riding title at the Dinosaur Roundup in Vernal, Utah, for the second consecutive year.

Earning nearly $3,500 for the win, Jesse now sits at No. 40 in the World Standings (just ahead of nephew Rusty and behind brother Spencer and nephews Ryder and Stetson, who sit at No. 1 and No. 2 respectively.)

“Well, I took a little while off, and I forgot how much I love bronc riding,” said Jesse, who uncharacteristically threw his cowboy hat in celebration following his ride. “And when you get on one like that, and it’s been like a year and a half, you can’t not throw your hat.”

It’s safe to say we will see a lot of more of Jesse on the rodeo trail with the Wright clan, and there’s plenty of time still in the season for him to break into that Top 15.
