Breaking Down Rombauer’s Win at the Preakness

Stallion-E-Search and Lonestar Park writer, Greg Thompson joined Western Sports Round-Up to talk about the unlikely win at the Preakness.

Rombauer was little talked about because the horse was opted out of The Kentucky Derby.

Medina Spirit had never been passed, which changed as Rombauer overtook Midnight Burbon and Medina Spirit down the homestretch.

Thompson says the fact the Rombauer skipped The Kentucky Derby was a key factor in the race, “He is the fresh horse, he was preparing for this race specifically.”

The final leg of the Triple Crown, The Belmont Stakes, takes place on June fifth.
