Sage Kimzey Fighting to Regain Number One Spot in Standings

Sage Kimzey is no stranger to the number one spot in the world, but this year he has to do something he has never done before, reclaim a World Title instead of defending one. Sage currently sits number two in the standings but within striking distance of Colten Fritzlan who won the American and has held on to first place since.

Kimzey had a massive weekend, collecting five checks and over $8,800 to close the gap even further between the two.

“It was the first weekend where I felt like it all came together. A pretty flawless weekend, it is one of those things where I’ve been feeling pretty good about where my riding has been.”

The biggest check of the weekend came at the Cactus Jack Xtreme Bulls event in Uvalde, Texas where Kimzey went 93 points in Round two and 91 points to win the event.

“Everything about the bull riding was great, they did a great job putting it on.”

Kimzey put on a show in Texas for the crowd, which is something cowboys haven’t been able to do much of over the last year.

“It was pretty tough last year, I didn’t really realize how much I needed the crowd. Last year it was every rodeo we went to, very few were at capacity. There is just an energy and a buzz that a roaring crowd gives you.”
