Jess Lockwood joined Steve Kenyon on Western Sports Roundup after his second place finish in Glendale, Arizona.
Lockwood rode two of his three bulls for an aggregate score of 177 points despite injuring his free hand when he was bucked off on his second bull of the event.
“We started a little rougher than I’d really like to,” he said. “I was pretty helpless in that chute but once I nodded, it felt like old Jess was coming back.”
Lockwood said he was very thankful for his two traveling partners, Colten Fritzlan and Cooper Davis, for helping him get ready to ride while his hand was taped up. He also liked the “little mojo” they brought to each ride.
“If you have those guys tying you in.......you probably ain’t coming off,” he said.
Lockwood’s runner-up finish was the best of the season. Kaique Pacheco won the event.
