Dustin Boquet enters the Wrangler NFR in the best position of his career, fourth in the world. He’s just over $10,000 behind No. 1 Sage Kimzey.

Boquet was the best bull rider in the world prior to the COVID-19 break. He blasted out of the gate early on in 2020, winning a Go-Round in Denver, Fort Worth and San Antonio.

His biggest triumph came in San Antonio, when he won more than $16,000 on three qualified rides. Every time he made the eight at the rodeo, he was marked 85 or more points.

His Go-Round winning rides in Denver and Fort Worth each earned him more than $3,000 and his scores were of 88.5 and 89.5 respectively.

Boquet would go on to receive paydays of more than $1,000 at three more winter rodeos and by the time the rodeo world shutdown in March, he had already banked more than $35,000 for the season.

After the COVID-19 break, Boquet had a few rodeos to write home about. He won the Westcliffe Stampede Rodeo in Colorado with an 86.5-point ride on Captain Crunch in July and he closed the season in style by winning the Cowboy Capital Of The World PRCA Rodeo in Stephenville. He rode Hot Reigns for 88 points.

Boquet’s average score of 83.95 and 15 rides marked 85 points or better in 2020 are both career-bests. The cajun has been to the Wrangler NFR once before in 2018, he finished seventh that year.
