After his coming out party in 2019, Boudreaux Campbell has bigger aspirations for 2020: dethroning Sage Kimzey and winning his first Gold Buckle.

If anyone can do it, it’s Campbell. He was step-for-step with No. 1 Kimzey and World No. 2 Ky Hamilton all season after finishing as the Reserve World Champion in 2019. Campbell won $85,745 in 2020 and he’s less than $7,000 behind Kimzey, the six-time reigning World Champion.

Campbell’s signature moment of the 2020 PRCA season came in San Antonio when he rode Ferdinand for 89 points in the Championship Round of the Xtreme Bulls event. He pulled in $15,000 for conquering the 4L bull.

Campbell continued that success at Xtreme Bulls events throughout the season as he won the Long Round in Dodge City and was second in the Long Round in Spanish Fork. The Crockett, Texas native won $44,284 in total and was the Xtreme Bulls Tour Champion.

“It feels good to be the Xtreme Bulls Tour champion,” Campbell told Wrangler.com. “I’m glad I’m able to get this off my bucket list. I just wish I could have finished a little better at the (Finale), but it was still nice to get the (year-end) title. It has been a goal of mine since I was a little kid that once I got to the ProRodeo level I wanted to win everything I could, and this was something at the ProRodeo level I needed to win. I’m glad I got it done.”

It wasn’t just big PRCA events that Campbell rode well in this year, it was also PBR. He went 4-for-5 at the PBR World Finals and was the event champion, shooting from No. 33 to No. 3 in the PBR’s final standings.

The Crockett, Texas native is the only cowboy to qualify for the Wrangler NFR and the PBR World Finals in 2020. In addition to being the reigning PRCA Reserve World Champion, Campbell was also second in the average at the Wrangler NFR in 2019, winning Rounds 6 and 9. He finished the year with $344,573.
