It was an exciting weekend of nonstop roping in San Angelo with the 67th annual Cinch Roping Fiesta bringing the biggest names in tie-down and breakaway roping to town.

The open calf roping invitational consisted of three long rounds and a short round, naming the best in the average on four head the 2020 champion. It happened to be reigning World Champion Haven Meged who took the title — and who also roped another 12 during the celebrity match roping for $20,000, winner takes all. In the match roping, Meged faced off with 4X World Champion Tuf Cooper (who stepped in for Caleb Smidt due to injury) and may have come out victorious if his rope hadn’t have broken on his third run. While looking strong throughout the match, unfortunately Meged couldn’t recover from the 41+ seconds he took on the third, and Cooper took home the $20,000.

In the breakaway, three cowgirls went 3.9 seconds in the final round. Two of them, Josie Conner and Alex Flautt Loiselle, split first and second with a total time of 11.8 seconds on four, while the third, Lari Dee Guy, placed third overall in the average with a total of 12.3.
