Jimmie Smith and Lena On The Rocks

Jimmie Smith was the 2018 WPRA Rookie of the Year. Currently she’s sitting at No. 2 in the World Standings and has a spot secured at the 2020 NFR.

Much of her success she attributes to her horse Lena On The Rocks, who Jimmie says, “has a big heart. I’m grateful to have her back after last year when I lost her during Calgary and she had to go home.”

While in Canada for the 2019 Calgary Stampede, Lena sustained a minor injury, and while she was still able to run, Jimmie chose to send her home and not to risk further injury.

It seems like the right choice considering that the duo has been on fire in 2020.

Jimmie and traveling partner Brandi Bratton talk about what makes Lena so special, the highlights of their year so far, and hopes for the end of the season.
