Bareback rider Wyatt Denny was a 2X high school state champion in Nevada. He went pro in 2015 and the next three years in a row, he qualified for the NFR.
Then, in 2019, injury took him out of the game. He ruptured his groin in Caldwell, Idaho, and when investigating the injury, doctors found other issues suggesting he would need a total hip replacement.
Wyatt was determined to end up in the best shape possible to get back to rodeoing, so he opted to have surgery, even though at the time he was in the best shape of his life. Following his operation, he rehabbed for four months and drove 2 hours, three times a week to see a physical therapist. In the end, taking the time off to heal up was the right decision.
Now, Denny is back and looking as strong as ever. His goal for 2020, even though he knows the NFR may be out of his reach this year but he says his goal is to stay healthy, set himself up for next year — and win as many rodeos as he can get to.
With Denny, buddy Wyatt Bloom says, “it’s 90 or nothin.”
