Getting to Know the Athletes of Frontier Rodeo Company

Leading up to RFD-TV’s The American, we visited Parker County Sheriff’s Posse Arena, where Frontier Rodeo Company‘s bucking bulls and horses settled in to relax, exercise, and gear up for the big event.

Frontier Rodeo’s Preston Kafka was on hand to introduce us to their elite crew of athletes, and while taking us through their morning feeding, he talked all about about their day-to-day routines and the relationships formed.

“The mean animals mean a ton; they mean the world to us,” Kafka says. “We’re in the rodeo business, and without the bucking stock, we have nothing.”

But it’s about more than business for those who, like Kafka, work with the animals every day.

“The personalities of all these animals, it’s a lot of fun to be around, because they all have one. They all have their groups and their friends that they hang out with. Once you’re around them enough and you get to see that, it’s a lot of fun. But when it’s game time, it’s game time. They’re athletes just like the NFL athletes, NBA, Olympic athletes. They have to be happy and relaxed in order to perform.”

Frontier Rodeo Company has been named the PRCA Stock Contractor of the Year for the last five consecutive years, producing dynamos such as Medicine Woman (4X Saddle Bronc Horse of the Year), Full Baggage (2X Bareback Horse of the Year), and Maple Leaf (2013 Saddle Bronc Horse of the Year).

See Frontier Rodeo’s animals, along with the best of fellow nationally acclaimed stock contractors, perform in person at RFD-TV’s The American Semi-Finals at Cowtown Coliseum (Friday, Feb. 28 - Sunday, Mar. 1) and RFD-TV’s The American Finals at AT&T Stadium (Saturday, Mar. 7 - Sunday, Mar. 8), or watch the performances live on The Cowboy Channel.
