Steer wrestler Jace Melvin of Morgan Mill, Texas, stopped the clock in 4.4 seconds last night at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, a time that proved good enough for first place.

This season has inarguably been Melvin’s best since he joined the PRCA in 2015, and prior to the ProRodeo tournament in Fort Worth, he was ranked sixth in the world standings (in 2019, he finished 24th). If he keeps it up through September, he will be headed to his first Wrangler NFR.

The second round of Bracket 4 will be broadcast LIVE tonight (Thursday, January 30) from Dickies Arena at 8:30PM EST. This performance will determine who from Bracket 4 will advance on to the semi-finals. Here’s a look at where the steer wrestlers stand going into tonight:

1. Jace Melvin, Fort Pierre, S.D., 4.4 seconds, $1,760.

2. Will Lummus, Byhalia, Miss., 4.5 seconds, $1,320.

3. Tristan Martin, Sulphur, Louisiana, 5.9 seconds, $880.

4. Riley Duvall, Checotah, Oklahoma, 6.3 seconds, $440
