Seven-time World Champion Stetson Wright will miss the remainder of the 2023 National Finals Rodeo because of a right hamstring injury.

Wright entered the NFR No. 1 in the bull riding, saddle bronc ridng and all-around, but did not make a qualified ride in either event in either round and came up limping multiple times.

“He said he’s out for the remainder of the rodeo,” Sportsmedicine Medical Director Dr. Tandy Freeman told ProRodeo.com. “We filled out a doctor’s release for the remaining eight rounds. He’s not going to try and come back in two rounds or five rounds, he’s through.”

Wright competed in the saddle bronc riding in Round 2 Saturday night, but did not get on his bull later on after bucking off Big Rafter’s Wild Valley.

He leads the all-around race by $300,000, bull riding by $57,000, and has slipped to No. 3 in saddle bronc riding.
