Stetson Wright got his run at the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo off to the right start making the highest marked rides in Round 1 of Pool 3 in both the saddle bronc riding and the bull riding.
“You’ve got the be really focused. When it came to the fence I didn’t ride her off the fence as good as I wanted... but I was really happy with getting her rode. She’s kind of a hard horse to ride,” he said.
When it came to the bull riding, it was an exciting performance from the reigning World Champion. Wright says it was a fight to the end and for the second time in that performance, he was glad to make the eight seconds.
He would go on to win Pool 3 in both events with 166.5 points in saddle bronc riding and 87 points in bull riding.
Wright will compete in the Semifinals on Jan. 21 on The Cowboy Channel and The Cowboy Channel+.
