Stetson Wright Meets Up with Andrews Rodeo’s Brutus to Go 90 at Rodeo Austin

Stetson Wright bested his two 88-point rides in Austin when he rode Andrews Rodeo’s Brutus for 90 in the Final Round to become the Rodeo Austin Saddle Bronc Riding Champion.

This was the fourth ride on Brutus for Wright and he had to work for every point.

“It was dang sure a dog fight, I mean, he was trying to rip my head off as soon as I nodded but I just kept trying to throw my feet and it seems like when you do that you stay down in there,” Wright said.

He left Austin with $17,839 added to his saddle bronc earnings.

In the Short Round, a quartet of cowboys finished hot on Wright’s heels as Zeke Thurston, Wyatt Casper, Q Taylor and Tanner Butner were all marked 88 to take home about $3,800 apiece.

Wright has dominated the Texas Swing in the saddle bronc riding by winning 3-of-4 so far. He also went 90+ in the Finals to win Fort Worth and San Antonio.

With the win in Austin, he has cut RodeoHouston Sage Newman’s lead in the PRCA World Standings to about $7,000. Wright and Newman are two of the four cowboys who have already cleared $90,000 in earnings this season.
