Steer Wrestler Gavin Soileau Smokes a Run to Lead Clovis Rodeo’s Round 3

After no go-round checks in Round 1 or 2 in Clovis, Louisiana steer wrestler Gavin Soileau threw one down in the Thursday night performance. He stopped the clock at 4.5 seconds to go to the lead of Round 3 and jump to No. 5 in the average.

“You know, I drew a really good steer right there, didn’t run real hard, got a really good start. Jace Melvin’s horse, Utah, was really running right there, really gave me a shot and made a decent run on the ground,” Soileau said.

Soileau is sitting just inside the Top 25 in the PRCA World Standings and is in the middle of his first California run. Although he says it is a little different than what he is used to, he is having fun so far.

A broken barrier in Round 1 leaves him with slim chances to come back to the Short Go but he is hoping to hold out for a Round 3 check.
