Steer Wrestler Cash Robb Talks First NFR Qualification and More

The 2023 Resistol Rookie of the Year is Vegas bound for the first time

Steer wrestler Cash Robb has officially locked in his first NFR appearance at the age of 21, currently ranked No. 8 in the PRCA World Standings.

“It’s still a little surreal, but I’m excited and ready to get there,” Robb said.

What makes the accomplishment even more impressive for the 2023 Resistol Rookie of the Year is that he achieved it while being a full-time college student at Texas A&M Commerce.

“It can be challenging, but it’s a stepping stone, and I’m glad I get to do both,” he said.

Robb’s road to the NFR went straight through the Dakotas at the end of the season, despite not competing there earlier in the year. He placed third at the Roughrider Cup with a 3.8-second run and third at the Governor’s Cup with a 4.2, earning over $25,000 in the final two weeks of the regular season.

“I guess I might need to go to more rodeos in the Dakotas,” Robb joked.

Though young, Robb has veterans in his corner—both human and horse. He often rides Mabel, the primary mount of Stetson Jorgensen and the same horse that helped carry Jacob Edler to a World Title in 2020. He also travels with five-time World Champion Tyler Waguespack, among others.
