Steer Wrestler Bridger Anderson Talks Rodeo Corpus Christi and More

WCRA rodeos have been good to steer wrestler Bridger Anderson. He has won almost $40,000 across nine WCRA events in his career and he’s back this week competing at Rodeo Corpus Christi, the first of the 2023 Triple Crown of Rodeo events.

In Corpus Christi, 48 athletes are invited in each event and the Top 24 on two after slack advance to the performances where they are competing to be one of the seven athletes make Saturday’s Finals. From there, the Top 3 advance to a winner-take-all Shootout.

“With this format you can kind of play it pretty strategically, but you treat it the same as all of the other rodeos with this tournament format,” he said.

The thing that hangs over every competitor’s head at WCRA events is the fact that a handful of good rides or runs could lead to a $1 million payday.

“If we can win three of these rodeos in a row, we have shot at winning $1 million. It’s already been proven with (bareback rider) R.C. (Landingham),” Anderson said. “The start is right here in Corpus.”
