Scooter, the 2017 and 2018 AQHA Steer Wrestling Horse of the Year, is being retired, co-owner Tyler Pearson shared on Facebook Thursday night.
“As bitter sweet as this is, this is extremely hard for me, Scooter will start his retirement today. It’s going to be so good to see him running in the pasture but so hard for me not to want him to do what I truly know he loves to do,” Pearson wrote. “Scooter has brought so many guys to the pay window, brought families together, and has absolutely changed lives. For I know deep in my heart Scooter is a gift from God. Thank you Scooter for all you have done for my family, there is a special place in heaven for you my man.”
Scooter was often ridden by Pearson, Kyle Irwin, Ty Erickson and Tyler Wagusepack, including all 10 rounds at the NFR for all of them in 2017 and 2018.
In 2017, Scooter helped Pearson win a Gold Buckle and Pearson’s favorite memory on Scooter came in 2017 as well, when all four bulldoggers riding him finished as the Top 4 in the third round of the NFR.
In 2018, Scooter helped carry Waguespack to his second Gold Buckle.
“Everything we have, Scooter helped buy, help pay for,” Pearson said last year. “He means the world to us.”
