Currently, wildfires are burning across California, Oregon, and Washington State — destroying millions of acres, homes, even entire towns, and the areas are bracing for more fatalities and evacuations. As of Friday, 20 deaths were confirmed across the states and even more have been reported missing,
Oregon Gov. Kate Brown clarified on Friday that approximately 40,000 Oregonians have been evacuated, with 500,000 under notice to either evacuate or prepare for evacuation. But it’s not just human lives that are in jeopardy.
Thousands of animals have been rescued by volunteers across the state, and one place they’ve been able to find refuge is on the grounds of the St. Paul Rodeo.
In a Facebook post on Friday, the rodeo shared that it’s welcomed approximately 250 animals — horses, cows, goats, and more:
They are safe! We are grateful!
During this incredibly difficult time these special creatures found sanctuary in St. Paul, Oregon. The historic stadium and rodeo grounds welcomed 250 frightened and confused animals and grateful owners.
Volunteers showed up, companies and individuals fulfilled our every need. The special community of St. Paul embraced it all.
The St. Paul Rodeo Association is beyond grateful to everyone who has contributed. The best of what our country has to offer has been displayed in St. Paul and many other places during this very dark time. Many things have been taken away from us in 2020 but you will never take away our spirit, pride and patriotism. We are St. Paul Strong! Pray for Oregon.
