The Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo is the highest paying in the State of Missouri, doling out $182,000 in total prize money this year.

In bareback riding, Tanner Aus took first with 88 points on The Cervi Brothers’ On Second Thought to best the likes of Orin Larsen, Will Lowe, Richmond Champion, Tim O’Connell, Jess Pope and Rocker Steiner.

In steer wrestling, Emmett Edler won Round 1 with a 4.2-second run and was able to claim the Average as well with 10.4 seconds on two.

Clint Summers/Jake Long were the team roping champions by two tenths over Justin Pruitt/Gralyn Elkins. Summers/Long were 5 flat to win Round 1 and 5.7 seconds for eighth in Round 2.

In saddle bronc riding, World No. 10 Brody Cress provided the most fireworks of the rodeo with 91 points on the Cervi Brothers’ Womanizer. It’s the second consecutive weekend Cress won a Playoff Series Rodeo as he was also victorious at the Dodge City Roundup in Kansas.

In tie-down roping, Chance Oftedahl took first in Round 1 and second in Round 2 to win the Average by a whopping 1.5 seconds with an aggregate time of 18.3 seconds.

Summer Kosel was two tenths clear of any other cowgirl in barrel racing with a 16 flat to continue her hot streak. Kosel has won more than $20,000 in August and gone from outside the Top 20 to No. 13 in the WPRA World Standings.

And in bull riding, Lucas Mooningham was 89 points on Cervi Championship Rodeo’s Vitaliz Hard Knox to edge out Top 10 cowboy Creek Young by a half-point.
