Shad Mayfield wins San Antonio

Starting his 2020 season off strong, yShad Mayfield took the championship buckle in San Antonio. From then on out, he was the talk of the tie-down roping world.

He went on to win the Cinch Chute-Out in San Angelo, RFD-TV’s The American, Cave Creek, the Ute Stampede, and the Turquoise Circuit Finals. By the end of the season, he had a more than $100K lead in the World Standings, which he was able to hold on to throughout the NFR to win his first world title.

After his first big win of the season in San Antonio, Shad caught up with Justin McKee, and he brought his dad along with him.

A 2X NFR qualifier himself, Sylvester Mayfield can not hide his pride.

“He’s amazing,” Sylvester says of his son who is currently No. 1 in the world standings. “I’m just so proud of him I can’t stand it.”

On watching Shad in the finals, he says, “He just blew it out of there and just hustled his butt off. Couldn’t have done any better— it was perfect. We love it.”
