Currently sitting at No. 1 in the World Standings by more than $80,000, tie-down roper Shad Mayfield had an incredible start to 2020 before the coronavirus pandemic put the ProRodeo season on pause.
Mayfield looks back at some of his best runs at the 2020 winter rodeos, including San Antonio (his favorite) and RFD-TV’s The American (where he won $600,000).
He also talks about what it is like being at Houston when it got shut down, his plan for trying to win an All-Around title, learning to team rope with Junior Nogueira, and getting to enter for the first time since Houston for the Memorial Day Weekend rodeo in Cave Creek, Arizona.
“It felt great just to be able to call and enter. I almost forgot how,” he says with a laugh.
