San Bernardino Sheriff’s PRCA Rodeo: Recap, Highlights and Payouts

BY BRETT NIERENGARTEN @PRORODEOBRETT

The San Bernardino Sheriff’s PRCA Rodeo paid out more than any other rodeo in the 2022 regular season’s final full weekend of action.

In bareback riding, No. 17 Mason Clements kept his longshot NFR bid alive by bringing in more than $4,000 for his 87.5-point ride. Unfortunately for Clements, the cowboy who finished second was one of the two he’s chasing, No. 16 Wyatt Denny.

Steer wrestling was similar to bareback riding as No. 16 Trell Etbauer won the rodeo with a 3.4-second run. He needs to make up about $6,500 on Nick Guy in the next four days to go to to his first NFR.

Hagen Peterson/Caleb Hendrix claimed the team roping by one tenth of a second over Derrick Begay/Colter Todd.

In saddle bronc riding, Jake Clark won the rodeo with 84 points as six cowboys were marked between 80 and 84.

In tie-down roping, Matt Shiowaza was the only cowboy to crack the 8-second mark, notching a time of 7.5 seconds to win. Westyn Hughes, who has been on fire since returning from injury late in the summer, was second.

Cheyenne Wimberly ran away with the barrel racing by stopping the clock at 15.18 to win by almost four tenths of a second.

Last but certainly not least, Tristen Hutchings was 91 to win the bull riding and take home more than $5,000. He has jumped from No. 13 to No. 5 in the last few weeks of the season.
