Bracket 1 in San Antonio had two roughstock cowboys sweep all three rounds and one timed event cowboy come awfully close.
Starting in the bareback riding where Kade Sonnier proved his appearance in the Short Round in Fort Worth was no fluke. He averaged 85.5 points per ride and took home $2,500 from each round to advance to the Semifinals with $4,000 more than the next closest bareback rider from his bracket.
The other cowboy to win three in a row was Stetson Wright as he cleaned up in the bull riding as the only cowboy to go 3-for-3. In fact, Wright accounted for half of the qualified rides in the entire bracket himself. Wright also won 2-of-3 rounds in the saddle bronc riding.
In the timed events, the closest cowboy to sweeping was Joel Harris with two first place finishes and a second place finish. All three of Harris’ times were between 8.3 and 8.6.
Other winners in Bracket 1 were Cameron Morman in steer wrestling, Jeff Flenniken/Wyatt Cox in a tightly packed team roping, Fort Worth Champion Jackie Ganter in barrel racing and Tiada Gray in breakaway roping.
