San Angelo Rodeo: Finals

Multiple rounds of slack and ten performances have led up to this night. The Top 12 in each event have qualified for the Finals at San Angelo Rodeo and champions will be crowned when it is all said and done.

BAREBACK RIDING

World No. 1 Leighton Berry has matched up with Championship Pro Rodeo’s Cajun Queen, the National Finals bucking horse that carried Trenton Montero to an 84.5 in Fort Worth. Long Round winner and rookie Luke Thrash has drawn fellow J Bar J NFR horse, Dirty Jacket, who will have his first out since the NFR.

Tyler Pearson’s consistency snuck him into the Top 12 with an 8.9 on two head. He will set the pace in the Finals only to be followed by tough competition. Ty Erickson’s 8.1 on two leads the average while Cody Devers, Will Lummus and Eli Lord are tied for second.

Chad Masters and Trey Yates have been on fire in San Angelo with a 5.1 and 4.2 and they will carry that momentum into the Finals. Andrew Ward and Buddy Hawkins are another duo that has had great success during the Texas Swing that can be expected to continue that success tonight.

Wyatt Casper has drawn J Bar J’s In The Lu while Jacobs Crawley has Pete Carr Pro Rodeo’s River Ghost. Casper and In The Lu went for 87 points in San Antonio last year while Crawley will go toe-to-toe with the NFR bronc for the first time.

Rookie Deklan Garland tied for the Long Round win and his matchup in the Finals is Pickett Pro Rodeo’s Pendleton Punchline, who is unridden in 2023. Trey Benton III also tied to win the Long Round and his Short Go draw is Donie Flash, is also unridden.
