Sam Petersen Makes 88.5-Point Ride on United Pro Rodeo’s Whiskey Trip in Fort Worth

20-year-old Sam Petersen was the best of a decorated bareback riding bunch in Bracket 7, Round 1

In a field loaded with NFR qualifiers it was sophomore bareback rider Sam Petersen who came away with the Bracket 7, Round 1 in Fort Worth.

The 20-year-old was marked 88.5 points on United Pro Rodeo’s Whiskey Trip to beat out the likes of Clayton Biglow, R.C. Landingham and Jacob Lees Monday night.

“That’s an awesome of United Pro Rodeo, she kind of surprised me when she wasn’t turning back, but I knew she was bucking through it and I just kept spurring and gassing it,” Petersen said. “It all worked out, so I’m excited.”

With $2,000 earned, he is in the driver’s seat to make the Semifinals in Fort Worth.

Last year, Petersen made the Championship Round of RodeoHouston and the Finals of Rodeo Austin.
