With $233,360 in earnings in 2022, Sage Newman has officially made more money in a PRCA regular season than any saddle bronc rider in history.

“This season has been awesome,” Newman told ProRodeo.com. “I didn’t even know I broke the record. Somebody text me the other day and said congrats on breaking the record and I didn’t even know what he was talking about. It took me a while to figure out what he was talking about and this is pretty cool.”

The previous record belonged to Ryder Wright who finished the regular season that year with $224,488 in 2019.

Newman, who made his first NFR in 2021, has notched notable wins this season in Houston, Clovis, Reno and St. Paul. He leads the PRCA World Standings by a whopping $70,000 over reigning World Champion Stetson Wright.

“I’m just going to keep doing what I’m doing and going at them one horse at a time, and just doing my job and let the chips fall where they may,” he said. “I just want to work hard and have fun doing it. We are all entered up and there’s no slowing down. All gas no brakes.”

Newman is the fourth cowboy to break a PRCA season earnings record in 2022. Kaleb Driggers broke the record for heelers, Junior Noguiera did so for heelers and Stetson Wright broke the all-around record over the weekend.
