Sage Kimzey Continues to Win, This Time in San Antonio
Sage Kimzey has had a limited rodeo schedule after the birth of his first child, but when he shows up, he wins.
After sweeping every round he competed in during the Fort Worth Rodeo, Kimzey had a very similar run in San Antone. He was a perfect 5-for-5, averaged 87 points per ride and won four of the five Go-Rounds he was in. The only one he didn’t win, the Semifinals, he was second.
He finished the job in thrilling fashion Saturday night with 92 points aboard Andrews Rodeo’s Ol Son, a bull that was unridden so far in 2022.
“I really felt like you could be the most points on that bull,” Kimzey said. “Just a really great bull honestly, he has a lot of speed, a lot of intensity, I loved it.”
The reigning World Champion won $28,500 total in San Antonio and is back to No. 1 in the world with over $60,000. He leads Josh Frost by about $3,000.
JR Stratford and Trevor Kastner were the only other two cowboys to make the whistle in the Finals.
