Saddle Bronc Riding Director Isaac Diaz Speaks on Being Elected the PRCA Representative for his Event

The newly appointed Saddle Bronc Riding Director, chosen by his fellow saddle bronc riders to represent them on the PRCA board, 6X NFR Qualifier Issac Diaz joined Janie Johnson via Skype on ProRodeo Tonight to talk about why he wanted to run, the responsibilities of his new position, and what he has been up to since taking on the role April 1.

With all of the rodeo cancellations and postponements, Diaz has had a busy first month — starting with tackling the controversy over the payout at RodeoHouston, which was shutdown mid-tournament. He tells us about how the voting went and why the PRCA guidelines have created an issue.

Diaz also outlines the three rule amendments he has submitted for consideration after speaking with his fellow saddle bronc riders to better understand the changes that they’d like to see made.

“I just want to be their voice,” he says, “and I don’t want to take all the decisions on my own shoulders and it be something that they don’t want.”

“That was the biggest part for me that was exciting — was that everybody did vote me in. It makes you think that they trust you to make the right decisions and speak on their behalf.”
