Saddle Bronc Rider Kolby Wanchuk is on a Roll Early into the Season

Sherwood Park, Alberta cowboy Kolby Wanchuk has been on a heater this rodeo season, making waves in both the Canadian and Pro Rodeo circuit.

Wanchuk currently leads the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association standings with $15,682 in earnings and holds the number seven spot in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association with $66,902.

This may be one of the strongest starts of his career, with impressive performances and payouts in Lakeland, Grande Prairie, and Ellensburg, among others.

Wanchuk credits a large part of his success to drawing good and capitalizing on the opportunity to get on great bucking horses.

“We’ve got to show up and do our job every time, but when you draw the right horses, it dang sure makes it a lot easier,” Wanchuk said. “I’ve been drawing some unreal horses, ones I’ve been waiting a long time to get on. I’m feeling good, riding aggressive, and it’s all working out.”

If he keeps this momentum, Wanchuk is well on track for a spot at both the Canadian Finals Rodeo and the National Finals Rodeo later this year.
