Rusty Wright Meant it When He Said He’s Back, He Takes the Lead in Austin

Of all the Wright brothers, Rusty Wright’s performance at Austin moved him to the top of the leaderboard by three points. He got the job done on none other than Dakota Rodeo’s Bartender, a horse he knew well but had never been on himself.

“I knew I just had to gas it and that horse would do its job and it worked out. That was one of my favorite bronc rides now do this day, just felt great, everything you want in a horse and I feel like I did my part,” Wright said.

He had seen his dad and his brothers on that horse so Wright knew exactly what he needed to do to get the win and he did just that.

Dakota Rodeo’s Bartender also gave Wright every chance to show off and earn every point.

“When them horses jump in the air and hang like that, you set your feet and kind of have that pause there for a minute, it’s just what you dream of, literally. When you picture a horse in your head, it’s a lot like that horse, so it was an honor to get on him,” Wright said.

Wright has had a quite the kick start to his 2022 season after a tough couple of years. The momentum is going in the right direction, he has tough competition but also a great support system within his family.

Following Wright on the leaderboard is Brody Cress, Spencer Wright and Statler Wright all tied for second. Logan Cook holds the No. 5 spot while Leon Fountain and Ryder Wright are tied for sixth.
