Leighton Berry’s performance through out the early parts of the 2023 season has given him a $40,000 lead in the World Standings as he sits No. 1. This came after a huge win at RodeoHouston making him your Roughtstock Athlete of the Week.

Berry’s trip to Houston started out in Super Series 2 with an 81 and 74 to place in the first two rounds before an 88 would get him the Round 3 win and make him the No. 2 cowboy to move on to the Semifinals.

From there, he would win the Semis with an 87.5 on Stace Smith Pro Rodeo’s Star Witness. He drew Pickett Pro Rodeo’s Shady Nights in the 10-Man Round on Sunday for a third place finish that pushed him on to the Championship Shootout, where he matched up with Calgary Stampede’s Yippee Kibitz for 90.

Not only did Berry claim the title in Houston last week, he also leads the Long Round in Austin with one performance left Tuesday night and finished third at the Rio Grande Valley Rodeo in Mercedes, Texas.

Three weeks prior, he also won San Antonio with a monster 93-point ride on Frontier Rodeo’s Gunfire, making him the first cowboy to win Houston and San Antonio in the same year since Sage Kimzey in 2016.

With more than $91,000 to his name, Berry leads the world by more than $40,000 over No. 2 Rocker Steiner.
