Texas bull rider Jeff Askey is now leading the PRCA World Standings after an outstanding performance at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.
During Bracket 5, Askey went for 89 points in Round 2 and 86 in Round 3 to cinch a spot in the Semifinals. From there, he would go on to the Wild Card where his first of two 90-point rides on Saturday would be made aboard Pete Carr Pro Rodeo’s Let’s Go Brandon. With that, Askey bounced back to earn a spot in the Short Go. During the draft party, he picked Carr’s Bayou Bengal and was 90 once again to win the rodeo.
Earning a total of $26,83, Askey has now made $56,170 and leads the PRCA World Standings by $7,374 over defending World Champion Stetson Wright.
Askey has ridden 68 percent of his bulls so far in 2023 and has 12 of his 17 qualified rides have been 85 or better.
